Honored Delegates and Advisers,

On behalf of the Model United Nations of Southern California, I would like to cordially invite you to SCMUN (Southern California Model United Nations), USC's annual high school MUN conference. Held on our campus at the Von Kleinsmid Center from April 22 to April 24, 2016, the conference will be unique in its format, having a range of crisis committees and nontraditional delegate roles such as security ministers, Spartan commanders, and even the Dalai Lama. Thematically, the conference will focus on the reemergence of geopolitics. The committees will be emphasizing negotiating and the roles of narratives and diplomacy, pushing our delegates to approach these issues with brilliant insight and creativity.

Our conference will feature fourteen scenarios and a total of sixteen committees. Though assembly options are available, we have focused on providing a wide array of exciting crisis committees. This provides opportunities for both beginners to learn and grow while allowing veterans more flexibility to hone their skills in real time as the pressure mounts!  Options range from Tibet 2022 —  a joint-crisis committee of the Chinese Politburo and Tibetan Cabinet in the midst of Tibetan upheaval during the Beijing Winter Games — to the World Bank and Shangri-La Dialogues.
